Biography

A keen learner, a passionate teacher and a committed and creative educator, Mrs. Deepa Prasad brings her skills and experience to her role as the SEN Coordinator. She is an energetic leader and leads a team of seven Remedial Facilitators and a Speech Therapist.

The department provides interventions to Children with Special Needs in the areas of Academic, Social, Emotional and Cognitive development and also plays a key role in inclusion of children with Autism, Down's Syndrome, Learning differences, ADD and ADHD in the mainstream. She applies a holistic approach towards inclusion and conducts specific trainings for caregivers, teachers, parents and students across different programs. She has brought in computer interface and other devices with a wide range of applications and software to facilitate the intervention process. She has worked extensively with curriculum development for EY-PYP and has been instrumental in guiding with differentiated instruction and sensitizing facilitators about special needs.

She is a Clinical Psychologist with a passion for working with students with different abilities. She holds a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology and a Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resources. She has to her credit, several certifications in Psychometric testing such as ICIT, DASII, FIRO-B certified by CPP Asia Pacific, PF-16, to name a few. She is registered under the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI). She has close to more than two decades of experience in Counselling, Psychometric testing, Vocational guidance and Behaviour management. She has conducted testing for various B schools and corporates.

Mrs. Prasad has worked in all the major Educational certification boards prevalent in India (IB, ICSE, CBSE, SSC). These have given her an insight about accessibility to learning through different methods and strategies to provide accommodations and exemptions for students with Special Needs. She has been regularly attending IB workshops, national and international conferences and seminars and various short-term courses in Autism and Learning Difficulties to keep abreast of the latest developments in the field of Special Needs.

She is known to take on new challenges and achieve set targets. She has been a constant motivation for her team encouraging them to develop themselves professionally by attending workshops and incorporate the knowledge in this field. She has guided her team positively to make the program an effective one. She binds everyone with the school unit to spread the sense of belongingness. She is an exceptional example of determination and endurance with an ever-optimistic outlook towards life.
