CLARITY - LANGUAGE LAB

Clarity, a state- of-the- art language lab helps us to break the barrier of traditional teaching methods and provides a robust language teaching platform with latest technology and multimedia content. Integrated teacher and student console with two-way communication, student monitoring and controlling, group discussions, voice comparison with graphical representation makes language teaching interactive, enjoyable, practical and productive at all levels. A curriculum based English learning software, Clarity covers various strands for learning English like Listening, Reading, Speaking, Writing Grammar and Pronunciation.

Listening- The ‘Listening’ tab has many audio passages, that cover many topics ranging from phase 1 to 4. Students listen to these audio passages and answer the multiple choice questions that follow each passage. The degree of difficulty increases with the next phase. (from 1-4)

Reading-The Reading section, much like the Listening section has different levels of reading comprehension passages. The software has the ‘read-aloud’ option too, for those who find it difficult to work on their own.

Speaking- The Speaking Section of this software is quite engaging with a range of interesting topics. For example “talking about yourself” or “asking a stranger for directions to the mall” are done in dialogue form and the students first hear speakers converse and only then carry forward the conversation using grammatically correct sentences and intonation.

Writing- The Writing section consists of different writing styles for practice, like, letter writing, story writing, essays, film/book reviews, report writing, e-mails, biography, etc, All these styles of writing are first explained (with read-aloud option) and only then are the students asked to work on their own.

Grammar- Grammar covers all the Parts of Speech and Tenses, articles, degrees of Comparison, etc. Here, the student is first given detailed explanation about the different topics and then he/she has to do exercises related to those particular topics (with increasing levels of difficulty) and these are then graded or marked. The student also has access to the correct answers, this immediate feedback helps them to understand the concepts better.

Pronunciation- The software offers the option to conduct separate speaking assessments, where the voice of the student and facilitator can be recorded.

Progress card shows the name, date and time of completion and helps us to keep a track of the student's progress. There is also an option of printing the progress card.

Clarity has several add on software packages that assist students to prepare for SAT, IELTs but we have not yet added them as presently only the students who have English as a second language use the lab.
